We welcome people of every experience level—whether you’re just learning where the space bar is or how to adjust a volume knob, or you’ve designed entire systems and worked professionally in the field (and everything in between!). Our audiovisual ministry has many roles, and people of all different skill levels contribute in meaningful ways.

Soundboard Operator
Entry-level operators make sure every microphone and instrument can be heard clearly and sound their best. Sometimes this even means using a tablet to adjust the sound from different spots around the church.
Slide Operator
If you can press the space bar and double-click a mouse, you can do this! We’ll teach you how to follow along with the script and advance the slides for Mass. More experienced operators also help create and format the slides and scripts. While you’ll sometimes see one person handling both sound and slides, it often works best to have two people sharing the jobs.
Live Stream Operator
This role involves using software that combines audio and video feeds and sends them out for our live-streamed Masses. Beginners learn the basics of managing the stream, while more advanced operators experiment with camera angles, transitions, and other techniques to help share the liturgy beautifully across the world.
Facebook Live Stream Operator
Using a tablet mounted on a tripod—or on our Swivl device (the same one used in the school, which can follow a speaker automatically)—this operator streams Mass directly to Facebook Live. It’s one of the simplest ways to help bring our parish to those who cannot be here in person.
These are the more common positions, and we also add support for other parish events and video projects as well. As you can see, the possibilities are endless.
